Welcome to the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) and the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) annual Freedom of Speech public service announcement (PSA) competition.
College communication students (currently in their freshman, sophomore or junior year of school) enrolled in the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to participate in the PSA competition. To enter, students must submit a 30-second video or radio PSA or an original interactive multimedia piece that highlights the importance of free speech or creatively addresses, “What does freedom of speech mean to you?”
Entry Categories:
- 30-second TV PSA
- 30-second radio PSA
- Interactive Multimedia Creation – this will be a students’ choice award, voted on by students between May 1 – May 31, 2013.
The first place entry in all three categories wins $3,000 in scholarship money. Second place spots for radio and television win $2,000 and third place in radio and TV wins $1,000. In addition, three $100 winners will be chosen from the remaining entrants who participate in a post-competition survey drawing.
NABEF will accept contest entries from April 1 to May 17, 2013. Winners will be announced via email in July 2013. **Please note that the entry window has been extended until May 17.
